Thelma Gruenbaum is a graduate of the University
of Chicago with Bachelor's and
Master's degrees in Human Development specializing in research in Child Psychology.
Her first book, Before 1776: the Massachusetts Bay Colony from
Founding to Revolution, was used by schools throughout the United
States during the Bicentennial. Her music education book, To Music and Children with Love: Reflections
for Parents and Teachers was co-written
with musician and teacher, A. Ramon Rivera. Her 20 years of volunteer work for the University
of Chicago’s Admissions Office and the Boston Club were recognized in
2001 when she was the sole recipient of the University's Alumni Service Medal.
For the past 15 years, she has been an active member of The Writer’s
Group (TWG) of Brookline, Massachusetts. Her most recent book, Nesarim: Child Survivors of Terezin, includes the stories of ten young
Czech boys and their 20 year old group leader all imprisoned in the Nazi camp
of Terezin who were the sole survivors out of a room of more than 40 boys.
